We officially broke ground! On Monday, July 2nd, we marked the beginning of our construction & renovations at Hotel Earl.
Approximately 60 people joined us at the ground breaking ceremony. Speakers included Charlevoix’s Mayor, Luther Kurtz, David Marvin of Stafford’s Hospitality and Paul Silva of Silva Property Management. Remarks included thanking the community of Charlevoix for embracing our vision, Shoreline Architects, KLK Design, Clement Construction Company, Charlevoix Historical Society, City of Charlevoix, Stafford’s Hospitality consulting, mBank and the Sell family.
Renderings of the hotel and design schemes were present throughout the ceremony, allowing guests to see the vision of the hotel. David Marvin noted: “Our design team is very passionate about preserving much of the original architecture and details that Earl Young put in throughout the original construction of this hotel.”
Following the ground breaking events this week, 90% of the interior of the hotel is now gutted. Security fencing is up around the building and all usable furnishings were donated to the Bergman Center of Charlevoix.
Beginning next week, demolition of the pool and park lot are to begin. The hotel will feature an indoor pool where the previous one was, but the outdoor pool will be gone.
